We utilize medications, or pharmacotherapy, when appropriate such as when there is a co-occurring mental health condition like depression or anxiety, or for withdrawal management and craving reduction. While there is no “silver bullet” medication for chemical dependency, drugs like Acamprosate, Naltrexone and Buprenorphine can be effective at reducing the desire for alcohol or opiates in persons having difficulty achieving or maintaining abstinence.
